Iraq is Green

United States is diverse in many ways just in terms of climate. In the past 2 year from 2006 to 2007, I had the opportunity to travel through many places in United States; from Washington State to Southern California and from Vermont to Georgia. Each regions differ significantly from another. And as you are spouses of the Soldiers, you would also have been to many places as well and know exactly what I am talking about. While us, the Soldiers and Contemporary American citizens have the perception of Iraq as an extremely hot and dusty country and just an old, dusty, oily dessert land. But that is not the case for generations. Iraq (was) is the fertile crescent; the land between the two most popular rivers in the World; the Tigris and Euphrates rivers. The land that is once popular for birth of farming. The land, arguably gave birth to civilization. The patrol got a chance to travel the back country of Iraq, we got close to the Tigris river and it was a very refreshing experience. PVT Shell at one point during the patrol said, "Ahh, smell just like home!"
